I have these specs and I used these suggestion. The 340 has a surge at high speed when its warming up that goes away when its warm and the 440 seems to run good but I see carbs on ebay that have 220's in them and say they are set up right. Wondered if the 220s would make it run better?

Carbs are jetted per application of the manufacture of the snowmobile. What works for one manufacture may not be suited for another. Stick with the JD specs, jetting up/down one increment at a time and check the color of the spark plugs to determine if you are leaning out the fuel.
