Any of the ususal suppliers should have them in stock for $50 or so.

Try Dennis Kirk. Free shipping with a $100 order.

And e-bay is always there.

I just check Kirks website and it appears that this is another part they have dropped.

Try Manufactors Supply.

The '73 600 is a KEC-440. In '74 they upgraded to KEC-440/5. I think the only difference in the later motor are the heads. The pistons will interchange between these two engines and are interchangeable between cylinders. I have a seen a few come up for auction on E-bay but have never seen any of the aftermarket manufacturers list any of them.

My mistake. Sorry. only the 400's are available aftermarket.

You will have to go with OEM.

I have never personally confirmed this, but a member who no longer visits the site claimed a Rotax piston fits in this application.

Thanks for the assistance Matt.

I looked back in my notes and the last set I installed came from DK-Trader.

OEM from the JD hoard. They may still have some left.
Would be worth a phone call.

JDT who do I call can you have the number or know how I can get it.

Matt I looked up the specs on a rotax 440 f/a it shows the same bore as a kec 440/4. mine is a kec 440/5 are the bores the same, one guy said they were and if this is true i think it will work. The section on specs on this site don't have info on the kec 440/5. thanks in advance

John,

The Deere part number for the piston is AM53072.

The Kioritz number is 65000100.

Not sure this helps but maybe someone could cross reference the numbers to another piston manufacturer.

The bore is 68 mm and the stroke is 60 mm. There have been several discussions regarding the /4 version. If I remember right it was used in a aircraft application. The JD SM-2100 lists the 440/4 as being used in some '73 model machines. However, I think it was decided that this was type error. The same piston fits from KEC 440 thru KEC 440/5.

The KEC 440's were used in '72 & '73 500's and in '73 600's.
The KEC 440/5's were used in some late production '73 500's & 600's and in '74 600's.

John the number is 320-358-4444.
You want to speak to Marya. She handles all the Deere inventory.
Give her the part number and she will help you.

thanks guys sorry it took so long to get back to you, been extremely busy and haven't had any time to mess with it. I'll try getting ahold of her and see what I can find out. It never fails we just had one of the best winters we have had in a long time and I can't keep these sleds running. Oh well theres always next year and I found two 440 trailfires for one heck of a buy.
