I have a muffler for my 76 440 Liquifire and there is something broken off on the inside of the thing. banging around inside, it sounds fairly large. does anyone know what was in those mufflers.

Dave..I never had one apart, but probably just the baffle rusted loose and is rattling around in there.. Take a chop saw,cut it in half,,take it out and weld it back together..Or just as easy to get another pipe and put it on.. Frankie

so running bad> I dont really want to take any steps bachwards in the performance category. I looked again and if I tip it all the way one side and look down it where it hooks to the manifold and I can see the end of what looks like a piece of pipe. The end that I can see has a beveled end on it. Is that what a baffle would look like. I also have a 340 same year mufler< how would puting on that one affect performance +/-.

Thanks,
Dave

David,
The 340 muffler is the same as the 440 muffler. You could use it.
