Still looking for shroud covers for the recoil and clutch on 00/X's. Thanks

Why is it that nobody ever put these back on after they had to get at the clutch or recoil?

I'm guessing that the recoil was probably broke as most of them were, can't guess about the clutch.

I understand that what I meant was so many people never put them back on. Im sure Todd has gotten many 00/x sleds without them as I have. In fact when someones telling me about a deere for sale are the covers there is 1 of my first questions in determining what I will pay for it.

The recoil cover is easily broken if the pull handle slips out of your hand.
Sometimes the covers are left off on purpose and later lost.
They are somewhat flimsy and break if the sled is laid on it side.
The reasons are endless I imagine.
----------------
As for the secondary clutch covers some were made of plastic and if the belt blew they were history.
The metal ones are very strong but either type were left off again on purpose because if the wingnuts were not tightened up good they would shift and rub on the sheeves.
Yes they are very hard to find.

Rich if it were a $75 parts sled id say 25-40 bucks depending on what else is good. My main thinking in this is I have a decent amount of spare parts but these are items Im always in need of. If it were a $200 sled Id say about $50 less just because these are hard to come by. I dont have an exact science to this but missing covers, seat foam and the hood condition are all things I consider when figuring a value. On the other hand Ive almost always paid more for a deere sled parts or decent condtion than I would a similar shape other brand vintage sled. This is mostly because I cant stand to see a deere and not have it.
