The material is what is know as diecast or potmetal.
Yes there is zinc in it but what percentage I do not know.
Any metalurgists out there?

OK thanks guys i am just trying to figure out what rebuild kit i need to buy
Liquifire 340
Why do you need a rebuild kit? Almost every Mikuni I have ever seen can just be cleaned and reassembled. Are you missing pieces?

When I went to get carb kits for the Cyclones, the dealer asked the same thing. Are the carbs Zinc or Aluminum? How does one know? Don

I believe it has to do with the slides there are heavy zinc/chrome & then there are the light aluminum ones. What that has to do with the carb kits I have know Idea???

Good question, but I thought it was carb body material they were talking about. The mik's Deere used were all of the aluminum variety I believe. I am thinking the "zinc" carbs might be motorcycle?!
Not totally sure about that, need to do some digging...

Joe, I think maybe the other way around, as the ones I have here are all zinc, the Dator uses zinc for sure, I'm thinking the heavier zinc ones were used in the snowmobile carbs for more weight to return the throttle in cold weather??? at least that would sound reasonable???

Some of this has come up before.
I'm thinking the slides Deere used are chrome plated brass. They are silver on the sides, gold colored on top. Rich can confirm this I think.
As for the carb body material, all the ones I've messed with, I'd call aluminum.

The tech manual said the carb bodies for the sports were aluminum.
