Twin Plug Kawi motor

Post by guitardude081 »

I will be shortly acquiring a 4/6 Invader motor. It's been sitting in a barn for 15 years. It's not stuck, but it needs rebuilding. What parts interchange from the Liquifire/Invader engines? Winderosa makes a gasket set, but it's a Winderosa gasket set..... Can I use regular Invader gaskets from Cometic? Will Invader/Liquifire pistons work or is the porting different? It has spark, and a borescope shows good chrome in the cylinders, so the hard to find parts won't be needed.

You can use invader gasket kit on that motor . The invader pistons will work but they are supposed to use a different piston and rings.

What is the difference between the pistons? I read somewhere that they are not interchangable, but some catalogs list the same piston for all of the 68mm bores (LTD, Invader, LF, TF grouped into one), some list for everything but the LTD and some list different ones for F/C and L/C motors separate........Not many catalogs are consistent with eachother. I know what works as far a original JD applications but, I'm not a Kawi snowmobile guy at all.

Jack, I think the Square block LTD motors use a different piston than the Invaders, & the Invader 4/6 LTD motors do, & the square blockers use different gaskets also (for sure different head gaskets)

Kenny, this is the regular Kawi Liquifire style, but it's all black and has two plugs in each head. After talking with you this morning, my only thoughts on the differences in the regular TC440s and the 4/6's was that the port heights in the pistons were different to allow more intake charge. I can't wait to get this thing built. Once I get my other 3 never-ending projects done, it's all systems go for project "go fast Liquifire". I have a feeling Jerome's gonna be sick of JD cranks when I'm done.

Jack. The main feature to the 4/6 motor is the coolness factor. In stock form there is not that much difference. The cylinders respond well to porting and Aaen pipes. The Invader pistons work but so do stock Invader/Liquifire cylinders. Ignition is the same as the early seventies Cat twin plug sleds. Peter

The ring pin position is different on the 4/6 versus invader motor and they used the same rings as the 81 &82 LTD motors on the 4/6
