I called the guy. Said it worked but needed a battery. Only 618 actual miles............ What a nice find that would have been.

It seems that sled is still on there? I figured the ad would be gone by now. And I did notice no laping deere decal.

I believe the one on E-Bay was an '83 and only had 1XX miles on it. It would be a nice sled to have in the stable and Rainville could haul it west I'm sure. I haven't looked yet to see if it is still there but I will here shortly. The Sportfire was an '84 and is gone. I called the guy. JDX, I also saw that '82 Sportfire on CL for free and by the time I responded, it was gone as well. Also, here's a hint: I type in the words "Liquid fire" or "Liquidfire" on CL occasionally. It pays to do that as I dug up an '84 Liquifire that is a runner & driver for $200. It did not come up under any other search related to snowmobiles or John Deeres. I shouldn't be giving out some of my "secrets" but oh well.

Rob,

Rich, of course, is right, it was an 84. I just glanced at it the first time. No leaping Deere logo on the hood, and that funky 84 font on the "Sportfire" name. I believe they only made 371 of those things that year.

Hope the new owner appriciates it.

Hey guys, i am the one who ended up with the 84 sportfire on cl in the twin cities, got it for $300 and the electric start works, pretty good shape also, he had it listed as an 82 but we all knew it was an 84, and yes i really do appreciate it!!! It runs sweet!

Congrats John on scoring the sled! I have all the 84's except a Sprintfire in my collection. Unfortunately, my Sportfire is one of the rougher of them, but it's all there and very restorable.

Thanks for letting us know a reader here got the sled...

Ike,
Not looking to add any more Trailfire's to the stable unless they are cheap!
