340 exhaust mount
the exhaust mount on my sled(340/S) that is in the middle of the pipe is wore bad so I was thinking of putting a piece of rubber under it. What do you think ? the pipe is not wore but there is a big weld right there and it has wore a small hole in the mount

My 340S has the same nasty gob of weld on the bottom of the expansion tube as well.
Both of my sleds are relatively low miles, and there is already a groove worn in the pad under the pipe.
I would smooth the weld a bit, but I must say that rubber under the pipe doesn't sound like a great idea. I've never seen the pipe really smoking hot yet, but I may yet.

go to your local rubber supplier and you can get a high heat rubber. We used some on our 77RV doo last year. The stuff we used was a hose that we used were the pipes go into the can. Put on two hose clamps and there are no leaks and no silicone to replace when you take it apart.

I would think that you could line the bracket with some Orange High Temp RTV sealant let it cure good before laying the muffler into the bracket. This is the same stuff we used to line the mufflers to the exhaust manifolds so there wasn't any leaks, so I know it won't burn under pipe heat...

FIII I will try to find some hose I know where you used it on the RV. if that don't work out I think the RTV would be easy to do thanks for the help Steve
