I was going to install my air box last night and noticed how rusty the spark arrestor and the other flat metal screen are. I want to clean them up and possibly paint them....
Has anyone done this before? My concern was gas/gas vapor getting into the air box and causing the paint to come off.
What would be my best option to keep these screens from rusting?? Just cleaning them up and a light coating of oil??

It probably has rusted because of years of setting, once you've cleaned it & are again running the sled I doubt if it will rust because of the oil/gas mixture being spit out of the carb??

I think I will try the coke method. Never used that method before....
