I forgot to mention that on our way home, Bob and I were able to spend a few minutes with Duane "69 Camaro" Gjerseth. It was good to see him again. He's working hard right now ( I think he said he had 11 Mondays to go before work would stop). His knees are bothering him so we need to think good thoughts for him, afterall he needs to ride with us at the HOF. DA

Was nice seeing all you guys at Haydays this year. Sorry i didnt have much stuff at the house but Tom Otte walked away with the good stuff. He now owns my Dator and Cross-Country Liquifire. I found out that everything really is for sale. Good thing i have other Dators but i only had the 1 CC.

This weekend i have a dozer to do a little dirt work for the new showroom that is to be built. Hope to be done by next Haydays event so we can entertain better at the homestead

Talked to our new friend the gay-guy and he sends his luv to all but special wishes to that Rainville fellow.

Nobody talked about finding anything. Any luck guys and gals????

Hi Guys,

Chuck, can't wait to see the new Deere showroom next year. Sounds like a great idea!

I did have a little luck on the way home from Hay Days. A nice gentleman named Tony from southern WI e-mailed me just before the wedding looking for 340/s belts, and let me know he was planning to sell the sled. He was asking $600.00 for it. Once I looked at the pic's, the quote from Rich came to mind: "If you can't say yes, nod your head!"

Not only did it have the original narrow bumper, but it was also sporting a Deere glass pan. Looked pretty clean from the pic's, but someone painted the body flat green. The hood and underhood area was spared.

I mailed him a deposit after the honeymoon, and made arragements to pick up the sled on the way home from Hay Days. He was a very nice guy, and he and his wife were up at 2:00 AM when I pulled in early Monday AM.

Here is a pic of it in front of my barn.

Here are a few more pic's of the sled from under hood. It is so original, it even has the cruddy 15" bonded on cleated track still on it. I was very happy to bring this one home... and I was really honored since the owner contacted me. Not like I was going to turn it down!

Awesome find Joe!

Is the air box missing or did you take it off?

Note the heat shield for the CDI box.

From what I've been told, the air box is AWOL.

Joe has been telling me about this sled for a couple of weeks, so it wasn't a surprise, and I was totally cool with it.

Also, I have 2 of them now and don't really need another...AND, I have a line on one less than 15 miles away.

Joe, I want to know about the windshield. Doesn't look like a "normal" windshield from the pics. Does it have tabs? DA

Ouch! the air box is AWOL!

I guess we all know what Rainville's next reproduction part will be.

Brian, you mean to tell me you drove all the way to MI to by two 340/S sleds and you have one in the neighborhood? You really need to get off the farm more. :lol22:

Hey Guys,

Yes, the air box is AWOL. I might have another up in the barn, but I am not going to loose any sleep over it. They are no where nearly as hard to find as Dator boxes luckily.

The windshield is home made Don, but not too bad a job. Bit rounded at the top though. The comandant noticed the steel grab handles, but DK's replacements will take care of that.

Other good news is that finding this one allowed me to sell a 340/s to Nick and one to Tim, aside from the one I sold to the Watersboy. So of the 5 I've purchased in the past few years, I have this one and the resto basket case.

Although I find it kind of wierd that people know of me, it sure makes finding nice sleds easier. A guy that was helping load a twin tracker I hauled to Hay Days for a friend of his has a complete and nice 295/s he wants to sell me. I hope to work a deal on it soon. Now if I can only find an IFS Liquifire or ETD sled!

Very nice sled Joe. Not as nice as the one i got from NY a couple years ago, but still a nice sled. Did you have a chance to see the old girl when you stopped to pick up your boxes. She is a jem.

Say hello to Nick and the girls for me. They were great!!!!!!!!!
