Rob,

While I like your idea, I am not sure that the state of NY will buy it for a vin#... If it wasn't my only loose 340/s tunnel, I would have found that to be pretty cool actually, as only new replacement tunnels had no vin.

Here is a pic of my "vin-less" chassis. Since the chassis is on hold until November, I am moved my attention to the motor and suspension. Funny, but after taking inventory of all my misc. 340/s I've collected over the years, I nearly have two sleds in parts! And Cari says it doesn't pay to be a pack-rat...

Joe, Ck the inside of the tunnel good, I've heard (& seen one personally ) that some serial numbers were double stamped & then ground off the outside, But if you look in the inside right were the number should be on the outside, you can see the number, you will have to remove the paint inside the tunnel to see it...

I got my tunnel, pan, and hood back from the body shop today.I'm pretty happy with it.

The suspension with additional idler wheel kit is close to being ready for installation. I dread this. I'm afraid of scratching parts during assembly.

I'm starting to feel like I'm making some headway.

Troy-
Try installing the suspension with the sled sitting upside down on saw horses.

Paul, I totally agree with the idea of inverting the sled to install the suspension, it worked great on the Cyclones. I'm not sure it'll work as well with the 340/S as the front subframe might not sit on saw horses easily. When installing the belly pan the other day, I had the rear of the sled on one table and the front on another table. I guess I'll find out soon. DA

I will definately try that. I'll have to recuit some help. The suspension weighs a ton. It will be tough wrestling into place. I can't wait to get it back on it's feet again!

Lay a heavy blanket down inside the tunnel just for some insurance.
