Mukini Carb Questoin

Post by jasoniowa »

I took the carb off today, removed bowl. I am not sure if I check the needle and seat correctly but here is what i did. I hooked a hose up where the gas line goes in to the carb, I then blew air through it tried to close the needs using the float arms. I was still able to blow through it no matter what. Does this mean the needle and seat bad?

It may be that it is seriously flooded and that is why it will not fire. The needle and/or seat is bad or it could be that it is way out of adjustment.
While you still have the carb off try this....

Remove both plugs and with the key off, pull the rope until your arm gets sore. Then put new plugs in and turn the key on. Try and start it.
By pulling the rope you will blow out much of excess fuel in the engine.

Do you have gas running out of the exhaust or manifold?

Yes, you are correct, the needle/seat is not sealing tight and problably causing the plugsto foul as discussed earlier. Remove the needle/seat,clean them and try again. You may need to replace them.
