Well I tore it down And what I saw is not good. I need two new jugs and one piston at the very least. I Dented the bottom of the jug which pushed a bump in the cylinder wall destroying my piston. The other jug has like Score marks like little ridges. PICS!!!

Bob do you have any idea what caused the dent in the jug? That is interesting. Maybe form a tool slip by a IPO?
I hear that Danzig is hoarding jugs so maybe he can set you up.
If the dent is below where the rings run in the bore you can hone it out.
How deep are the scuffs? Can you feel them with you finger?

Oh ya they are deep. I did slip and its right at the bottom of the jug were the two side pieces start. You can see on the piston how far up it goes. The rings aren't even close. Can I still use the piston? I think a hone would Clear up most of my problems. I cant afford 200 for new plating. Also I do have some play side to side in the rods. I hope the crank aint junk or this project might not happen.

I do not have extras, 2 of the 4 I got yesterday are bad. Bob, looks like you need some er...alot of parts. I feel your pain. Not good by looks of it...
Pistons, rings, cylinders, and I would make sure the crank is clean, looks like some shavings may have gotten in the lower end also. It wont do you any good sending parts to me after seeing this. I am sorry about your luck, I have the same so dont get down on yourself.

Oh well. I do have two more cylinders but they are junk. I don't know what to do. I wasted two sets of NOS rings and gaskets and in the process ruined a motor. So new pistons and rings and Jugs are in order. Looks like I might need to sell off my other motor for parts.

Bob take a rattail file and work the nick down but be careful not to nick the chrome above.
As long as the damage is below the area where the rings contact the cylinder walls it will be ok.
There has to be some side play in the rods just not excessive.
Before you throw in the towel take the case apart.
I know that this hurts but you can not save very engine.

I am just pissed that I damaged the cylinder. I don't know how all those ridges came about in the other one. I am going to split the case I have all new Gaskets and seals that are waiting. I Dont think I can run that piston anymore I think the Cylinder will be fine its below the rings. I am screwed on the other side unless it can be honed down.

A member on here had some Form PU before they stopped carrying them. I was thinking Danzig do you have access to a boring machine. I was thinking about boring them over re plating them and getting the over sized weisco's and putting them in.

Parts Unlimited rings...hmmmm....same as I was using...maybe they are a problem with factory Deere pistons.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure the plating in the bore on the liq. cylinders is not compatible with aftermarket steel rings. I am pretty sure you have to have original style "chrome?" rings. They are also "L" rings if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I'm stating this wrong...shooting from the hip right now at the end of a looong day.
