Rich: You lost me on this terminology "I will only be replacing the flange, bearing, lock collar and lock nuts. This failure caused a detour to the gearing because you need to verify the torque on the top sprocket before setting the locking collar.I will only be replacing the flange, bearing, lock collar and lock nuts. This failure caused a detour to the gearing because you need to verify the torque on the top sprocket before setting the locking collar". You want to re state this in other than green english??

I am assuming Rich is talking about the liquifire he got from me. I never even owned it long enough to go through the whole thing. LOL I only had it out on the lake the day i got it for a little bit. It was in pretty nice shape and i didn't want to mess it up, soemtimes me and sleds have problems with hitting things. LOL

you might want to replace the clutch side driveshaft bearing as well as these tend to dry out after a few years and a siezed bearing scores shafts nicely. the ski saddles have plastic that can crack and rust up nicely.. replacements are available in brass or copper.
since you mentioned brown sludge i would also check the intank fuel line and filter it may have fallen off.
aside from that there is the usual.. check engine for seal leaks, leaking gaskets.. loose or broken studs in heads.. retorgue head nuts. clean out oil injections system . track bogies and wheels. loose wiring or connectors in wiring.. solder any bad connections properly and NOT crimp @#*& connectors.
check primary clutch for proper operations and for extremely loose or siezed cams.
clamping a screen over the end of air tube prevents mice from getting into airbox.
check seat boards for rotting and replace seat bolts with stainless steel bolts.. i use a little bit of clear silincone when putting in seat bolts to help prevent siezing and corrosion of tunnel.
