picked up this sled from a neighbor who moved south. only saw him start once in 10 years.
I got it home cleaned up flushed tank/ carb / plugs. it didn't have keyswitch so i put on toggleswitch
filled it with fresh gas/oil gave it a pull it fired right up. heres the problem there is no throttle
it idles great but when you give it gas nothing. plugs are wet / fuel dripping out of pipe
but it says running. turn it off and it will start easy half pull.
i have checked the kohler tech talk and it sounds it's the cdi
found some online 67.00 at one place 139.00 at another but is this the problem?
some talk about bottom seals going bad
used tech tips starting fluid/ soapywater spray at shaft when running nothing no speed increase
bubbles

any tips out there
it might snow thanksgiving week last time i was on a sled about 1975 mywife never

My bet is on the CDI. I had one behave exactly the same way couple of years ago.

More recently another member had the same problem. Maybe he will chime in on this....

I had same problem with my 79 spitfire, I had did everything, cleaned carb, tank, compression test, did a pressure test, had carb apart more times then I want to remember but would not do more then idle, ended up getting a new CDI through Gamma sales for about $75 and after installing ran like a champ and is still running great. Hope this helps Spitty
