Here's a question. Why don't those gauges read 0 miles? I assume they have never been installed.

Just a small note. The '72s had chrome trim around the windshield.
No carb airbox, and no cover over the recoil or cooling air exit.

Ours was a 300 model, so it must not have been a 72. I think it was a 74. One thing I remember about it was we did break the recoil a couple of times. I know that had to be repaired, but other than that, I can't remember ever doing much of anything to that machine. Very reliable.

We had a 74 300 and a 73 400. I remember that the 400 had a tiny edge on top speed, but the 300 seemed quicker, faster reving, and more nimble (or was it just more tippy?). I recall the 300 had an aluminum bumper, and a 'flat' seat (no hump at the rear), and the seat cover was seamed along the edges where the 400 was the molded vinyl with hump. The 400 also had wider handle bars (we really struggled to get the JD cover over the ends).

Wish I still had those sleds...and really wish I had the cover.

Yes, if you watch the Carlson Induction video on YouTube, you'll see a prototype with round lights.
