1980 Arctic el Tigre' 6000

Post by ChickenRat »

Was calling on a John Deere sled and it was sold. The guy said "you wouldn't be interested in an el Tigre' 6000 would you?" I said depends on the price & shape. Sled is a beautiful original. Seat, hood are perfect. Bellypan is knocking on the door to being perfect. Has the updated '81 6000 clutching on it. 700 original miles. Could use a new snowflap and the green pinstripe on the hood, that's about it. The price was so low I can't even say what I paid for it. This was one of those deals that if you don't take it, you're an idiot.

I have a 79, I wish mine was that nice. Mine has caught sypilis tho..It starts really easy, but won't rev up, acts like its on a revlimiter. I'm pretty sure its stator is going bad.

The sled is lucky to be in the shape it's in. The guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner and when he bought it he said it was basically a new sled 25 years later. The guy I bought it from bought it for his kids to learn on and luckily they drove it in the cornfields of Iowa with nothing to hit. So, it remains cosmetically intact. The reason I got it for a song is that the guy said that after he changed the belt, he could never get it to run right again. He didn't know it had the '81 updated clutching on it and because of that, took a different belt and was a dog the way he had it set up. Slapped on an '81 belt and she rocks out quite nicely. This will compliment my '81 Sidewinder quite nicely on some trail rides this winter since they are essentially the same sleds.

Kenny, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you.
