503 fanner started in 79 and is still used in a somewhat altered state today as the 550f. The 5500 (503) started in 79 with points and was switched to cdi in 82 as well as oil injection until the last year in 84. It was also offered as an MX model with an IFS front end and a long travel rear skid in 81 and this lasted till 84 with the last few years being MX only and no leafer in the 5500. Both variations were heavy but the motors are bullet proof! The MX was the first true big bump sled offered by any sled manufacturer. You can pound them all day long. With 7" in the front and 11" in the rear they were more than capable of launching off approaches in the ditch at 70mph........trust me!!

the only 440 offered was in the Blizzard chassis was the 454 rotary valved liquid in the 9500. They were oil injected in 82 and then in 83-84 in the 521 9700, but they were problematic and were removed at the dealers. It was found that when you let off the throttle at high speeds the oil pump quit working as the throttle was not applied and crank bearings were seizing. Not an issue for the lower HP sleds like Citations and Everests. Oil pump ran directly off the crank and was mounted on the recoil housing. My 82 500MX has it removed.

RV chassis

75 RV (245 free air)
76 RV (250/340 free air)
77 RV (340 free air and 354 liquid)
78 RV (340 free air)
78 Blizzard 6500 (354 liquid)
79 7500 (354 liquid)

Blizzard chassis

79-84 5500 (503 fan)
80-81 7500 (354 liquid)
79-82 9500 (454 liquid)
93-84 9700 (521 liquid)
