Found a 295/S at the Salvage Yard
It has a bogie wheel suspension and the engine has been stored inside. It is missing the carbs, chain case, clutches, exhaust most of the bogies and pretty much everything else. Are there many parts that can't be found on the JDX/00 series?

I'd check serial numbers before you get too carried away. If it is a 295/S, it is a good find but she needs a lot of work and $$.

No airbox, expansion chamber, can or the small tank. Wasn't the small gas tank optional? Would the exhaust system work off a '75 800/JDX8? The air box might be around. Saw some off that white plastic in a crate at the end of the row of sleds might be in there. Were the clutches on the 295/S's the same as any other sled?

I might have a used pipe & muffler, I might even have an extra air box??? NO SMALL TANK OR ALUM SKIS THOUGH.. I probably have correct 295/S marked carbs, I should have complete chain case & driven, NO DRIVE CLUTCH,
Let me know if you buy it & I'll look see what I might have..

Since they only built 1032 of them, I could pick it up if it can be had for a reasonable price. The motor is deffinately worth aquiring. Factory bogie sleds are nice to find, less common than slider sleds.
Personally, I will drag home any 295/s, 340/s, Dator or 78 CC in pieces or whole. Only one of my Dators has come home in one piece, at one time.
I hope this helps,

Id 2nd Joes thinking if it can be had reasonably Id go for it. I personally dont have any race sleds yet but if I could get my hands on something like this Id go for it. Get it stash it in a corner somewhere and patience patience aquire parts for it as you can the biggest battle will be over in atleast having the sled. Different thought also is if you find another in fair shape you will have a decent amount of parts to rob of this 1.

My moto is : It is a lot easier and cheaper to buy them nice ( or complete ) than it is
to make them that way.
Unless I really wanted it for some reason, I wouldn't want to give much for it.

The pureists here won't want to hear this, but everything from a jdx will bolt on, and thats exactly what I would do. Buy it, get a jdx or 00 parts sled, and fix it up. Then when you find 295 parts, swap em out. Right now my 295 has a ccw 340 in it, with a bendix carb. I could careless what anyone says about it, its still a 295/s and I enjoy taking it out every once in a while.

I'm with speedy295. If I had the chance I'd buy it, if nothing else make a ridable machine. As rainville said they only made so many of these race machines.

Well here is what to do .
First of all Mr. 400Brian is right much cheaper to find them and buy them nice then it is to make it nice.
Secondly Mr. speedy295 is also right ....without out all the rare correct/exact parts it would be just fine to make it a semi-clone and ride and enjoy.
Lastly Mr. Rainville is also correct that if it is a reasonable price and it is rare to bring it home and decide someday what to do with it.
Finally I would say the ultimate action of correctness would be to let me go pick it up and get this problem of what is right and wrong off your mind !
