Right Carb???

Post by 79 Spitfire »

As you guysknow I have a 79 Spitfire 340. Question is, is that I was looking at the john deere catalog just a minute ago on the net. Problem I need a gasket set for the carb. On the catalog it show the carb I have is a boxed shape on the bottem. But the one I have when I got the sled has a round bowl on the bottom. Which is correct.

That sounds right. The '78 Spitfires had a slide valve carb with a square float bowl. The '79 and up Splitfires had a butterfly carb that has a round float bowl.

You need to find a Mikuni carb dealer and see what they can get. In Ontario one dealer is Winners Circle 187 Steelcase Rd, Unit 19 Markham Ontario, Canada.

If you need o-rings for the main jet and pilot bypass you can just find some the same size at any auto parts store. The gasket under the bracket and the float bowl gasket are the only specialized gaskets.
