It looks like you have Exhaust Gas Temp ( EGT ) probes in the exhaust manifold.

A 440/21 uses short reach plugs, and the 440/22 uses long reach.

I would be interested to hear what those carbs are marked ( numbers on the back side of the choke plunger tower)

I bet the reason there was no cooling shroud on it is that the fan housing will not fit from a 440/5 to a 440/22.

When you are looking for parts add a fan housing and shrouding to your list.

Should be marked just below where the choke plungers go into the carbs on the motor side..

ok : Took some carb cleaner and some scrubbing but found the numbers on the carbs. JD 295 on both carbs. Would these be off a 295/s motor by chance :?:
I found the cylinder i need to replace the bad one, its on its way. Well this motor is really becoming a mystery. I will be tearing it down for new gaskets and seals and it need a good cleaning. What do you think?

Didn't the 21 motors have a single bearing on the PTO end of the crank and the 22's have a pair?

I imagine there may be some folks intersted in those 295 carbs !!
