What engine is this?? & whats it from??

Post by ICCSF 108 »

I have another 440 that I'm tearing down that didn't have a fan housing, so I don't know what it is, other than it's a CCW or Kioritz it has a 68mm bore & I'm pretty sure has a 60mm stroke..
Casting numbers are as follows

Head
Mag side 55000211
PTO side 55000201

Cyl.
Mag 45040000
PTO 45030000

Upper case half 49020000 & GLO-64
Lower case half 49010000 & GLO-65

This was a points engine
Also the heads are for 1/2" reach plugs

Nope its an arctic cat motor...they used it in a one year only model, the DeereCat..Kinda looked like a 500, but it had a leaping kitty on the snowflap with antlers.

Kenny and I have been talking about this, I have a motor with the same numbers, but the fan tower says 340/5, which it obviously isn't.

It's my understanding that the engine came out of a 600, so my guess is a '73 440/4

This is what I figured out. I think it has to be a 73 model as the 72 models had a 25 mm crank, so it should be from a 1973, 500 with a serial number range of 11,001- 20,000 or 600 below serial number -20,000
Which should make it a 440/4 engine??

My parts book has the CCW part numbers BUT they don't match the casting numbers on the Heads, cyl.s, or cases,

72 500 jd engine from the sounds of it kec 440/2. the 75 kec 440/5 would have four intake ports in cylinders.

72 because of the long reach plug heads.

Just checked the numbers since i have one in house from 72 500 numbers match to what you listed.
