Stuck Cooling Fan
I have a CCW RV motor and the fan belt needs to be tightened. I took the nut off the shaft and the fan appears to be stuck on the shaft. Or am I missing something. I don't want to heat it and ruin the bearing, I also don't want to run it too hard with a loose belt. So far I have sprayed it with many penetrating fluids, tapped on it with a rubber mallet and put a small pry bar behind it to try and persuade it off. I appreciate any and all ideas.

They do become stuck, the fan hub should just slide off. You may have to remove the fan housing from the engine and tap the back side of the hub with a long punch.

thanks harley. Thats kinda what I thought. I got it taken care of last night. Slow and easy wins the race...
on another note, looking at a diagram it looks like I can remove the fan tower witout removing the flywheel and stator. Is this correct or was I seeing things?
Thanks

That is correct, the tower does come off without removing the flywheel.

Just to add to that, if your flywheel has the ring-gear around it for electric start, you must remove the fan tower first in order to remove that type of flywheel, if you ever had to.
