liquifire oil leak
Hello all I was just out in the garage and I noticed I have a oil leak on the 80 liquifire it looks to be comeing from behind the pto side carb were the line runs from the tank to the engine. Is this were it hooks to the oil pump?If it is the oil pump what is involved in rebuilding ?

liquifire oil leak
The oil line goes to the oil pump after the tank. When I first got my 80 Liquifire I dumped 2 quarts of oil into the tank just to have it run all over the ground because I didnt realize the line from the tank to the pump was disconnected.

If your lucky it is that the oil tank line is old and brittle & has cracked.. try replacing the line & a new oil tank filter, clean up the existing spilled oil from the motor ( using spray carb or brake cleaner ) & see if that solves your problem..

You can get the exact oil filter that came on the machine new at jdparts.com or your local JD dealer. They call it a fuel filter in the parts catalog but it is the oil filter. I'm picking mine up tomorrow. I can post the part number if you need it.

If you would post the part # that would be great
liquifire oil leak
The # is AM36483. As I said in my last post , they call it a fuel filter but this is the exact one that came on the machine from the factory. You can also get the fuel pickup # AM54051.They were about $9 total.

The 80 Liquifire have always leaked a bit, so listen to advice got here on forum. Over summer 2007 it almost drained tank twice.
Changed my lines as were leaking and installed all new lines. Installed new filter and be sure to bleed all air out of line to pump. Alslo try to get air out of all other feed lines. When starting be sure can see oil feeding through system in new lines.
After all my work still had a samll leak that was there. Well looked like it was the banjo firtting down on center bottom line. At first just thought left over oil...but it kept leaking.
I had switched mine over to Amsoil Interceptor when did it and I be damned if after about 2 months the small leaked stoppped. I marked the tank level and over past summer 2008it never lost a drop.
Be sure not to mix Amsoil with any old style oil though.

This is probably a dumb question but how do you bleed the lines? Do you just take it loose from the pump side and let it run oil to the end and then hook it back up?

There is a small bolt ontop of the oilpump, next to the output lines. Take the bolt out, to bleed lines.
When starting the engine, after its fixed, run premix in the tank, and hold the oilpump lever wideopen for a minute or two, to get oil flowing to the center crankseal.
