I'm trying to get this 400 restored and I keep running in to things that I am unsure about. First off, how do you get the inner side of the clutch off the crankshaft, and then after that how do you take apart the crankshaft to replace the inner seals.
Secondly, the plastic bushings in the clutch springs are all shot so I need to find some new ones and also need to know how that is supposed to be taken apart and then reassembled.
Thirdly, I was wondering if it would be possible to put new style bogie wheels on or do they have to be the metal ones for strength purposes.
I also need a plastic fan shroud because mine broke in half and I need a new inner clutch piece because mine has a nice big crack.
Thanks for any help you may have.

Many new 400 questions
kevcboy,
You should buy the service manual for your snowmobile. This manual will answer most of your questions. Info on ordering one is found in the FAQ section. Since the model 400 changed thru the years, state which year yours is to answer your questions properly.
I'm trying to get this 400 restored and I keep running in to things that I am unsure about. First off, how do you get the inner side of the clutch off the crankshaft, and then after that how do you take apart the crankshaft to replace the inner seals.
Generally:
The clutch is removed from the crankshaft with a clutch puller. The inner seals on the crank are only replaceable by a crankshaft rebuilder. The outer seals can be replaced.
Secondly, the plastic bushings in the clutch springs are all shot so I need to find some new ones and also need to know how that is supposed to be taken apart and then reassembled.
If your clutch is a comet type, special tools are needed to repair the bushings. It may be cheaper to have a local snowmobile shop fix it. Most comet parts are available from any of the major parts vendors.

The fan shroud may show up on ebay or ask in the classified section
