Pull start pawl

Post by Sprailfire340 »

Mine actually had two of the nylon washers...I put one over and under the pawl springs. My service manual makes no reference to these at all.

The manual does say to put the torsion spring through the cap and rotate cap counterclockwise until it seats over the pawls. Don't I need to turn it clockwise to put tension on the t. spring? Am I just reading the manual backwards or does that cap really need to go counterclockwise. I'm all confused now...

Yes that is my recoil and I noticed in the first pic there is a metal hoop on the center that is not on mine. Maybe that's the piece I'm missing, there was a small piece of a shop towel in there maybe that's standard replacement JDM-shoptowel  (mwking since yours is mangled maybe I could get that metal hoop off of you? Let me know. Thanx

MIGreg, you mean the clip in this pic? PM me your address and I will send it if you can use it.

That should be the problem I'm just trying to figure out how someone made a shop towel do the job. Thanks everyone for all the help maybe it'll see the snow soon.
