Hi guys,
been reading your site for a couple of months and thought I would finally join in.
Love the racing info and look forward to learning more about Deere's great racing history.
I raced a 82 Liquifire back in the 80's in ovals/drags here in Michigan, with some success, race doo's now, but it is so awesome to read about how the good guys got it done. Might have to find me a Deere to run in Bevra action.
love the site.

Hello all
Hi Max - glad you decided to jump in, this is definately one of the best old sled sites for sure.
Your BEVRA group sure is having the perfect winter for racing. I hope to make it up to at least one event this year to see you guys run.

Hello all
Thanks everybody, nice to be accepted so quickly.
I'll post a couple pics quick from the deeres past...
This one is from the MIRA races at Muskegon Race Course, a 5/8 mile horse track.
This was at a Lincoln Mira, race working on a twister..I got him..
and this was at Stanton in a small circuit fun race, that twister used to belong to Todd Krikke, funny how things always come full circle..beat that one too...
Kevin, you need to come a race against Kyle's 295/s, he's getting faster each week, but not quite fast enough yet...
rich, the bullet survived far better than I did, but that's what I get for not racing a Deere isn't it...

Hello all
Thanks Jon,
It took some trial and error to get the rear skid to give up enough ski pressure to make the sled turn good. ended up with a limiter strap and preheating the torsion springs up front on the skid to take almost all the tension off the front scissor, always had to have fresh springs in the back with some helper wedges to get the back firm enough. It really drove good, I'll scan some more pics from the back then and post them one of these nights. The motor was the beauty of that sled, Aaen built me a very good motor with his pipes when I ran in Mira's open mod leafer class. I think we dyno'd over 85 hp with the fireburst heads, just had them cut for a bit more compression.
Was good on radar for about 91 mph, pushing 10" carbides on a drag stip plowed on lake in Conklin, usually could get an honest 80 between the corners at tracks like Lincolns 5/8 mile oval.
Played with the TR 800's clutching using Cat weights and comet springs and the motor made really good power at 8800 rpm, had to unplug the overrev box, but it sounded very good, I don't recall what lbs we ran the secondary at, but it was the stock helix with I'm guessing 18 lbs of tension.. I sold that sled to trail rider in 1994 when I bought my 94 MX-Zx and never saw it again.
The torsion bar really was nothing more than a non update kit front tie rod to make toe in adjustments with. Made keeping a 1/8" toe out easy.
I've been looking for a 82 to reproduce it and race, but finding a clean one I can afford has been the tough part. It was the best sled I think I have ever owned.
