Anybody go there yet? Any good Deere there for show and swap? Are there any parts vendors for Deere. I was thinking on maybe heading over tomorrow sometime.

I think Jesse had his 295/S & two 78 CC sleds there, & someone had a Dator there also.. That's the news I got from MN.

It was my first trip to Waconia. Couldn't have asked for a better day, 40+ with light winds. Official count on the vintage ride was around 650. I'll definitely be riding in it next year. Not as many Deere's as I had hoped to see, only about 25-30 (that I found), but saw Jesse's CC's & 295/s, Chickenrat's 84 SF & LF, and a Dator. Quality over quantity. I500 had the 77LF on the radar run, which I have a crappy video of...no pictures to show as I thought I was going to be smart and take video instead...should have learned how to use it first. I didn't get there until 11 and the swap seemed to be a bit picked over.

Best part for me was walking around with my dad trying to find his first sled. Took a few laps, but he was able to jog a few memories loose. 70/71 Doo Olympic. Even saw a few for sale, but he thought he would be ok riding one of my Deeres next year. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go back tomorrow. It would have been nice to meet/talk to a few more of the JD guys as it was a little too chaotic today.

I was there with my road salt splattered '76 300 and my '73 Ski Doo. My friend Tony rode my JD. It has been a struggle with this machine, got it to run rideably with the choke 3/4 of the way on, and opening the low speed screw had no effect. Messed with it on the lake late this afternoon and ended up doing a hotel room teardown (I did stay at at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

We found a bunch of fine grit and general crap under the plate that covers the tiny low speed transition holes, when you could get it started you could run her wot just fine but she just would not transition.

Try again tomorrow.

Was there on Saturday. Temp was nice but turned the parking lot into a mud trap. I had guys come down late Friday and we pretty much didn't get any sleep so we were all spent on Saturday. We had a good time but we were so tired that it kind of felt like we were just going through the motions and I didn't really socialize that much this year with the JD crew out of tiredness. Next year I think I'll have everyone stay home, get a good night sleep, and hang out with the JD crew since they will be the featured sled and it will be nice to talk with everyone from the site. I chatted briefly with Dave(Greenblood) and Duane(69Camaro) but that was about it. Here are a couple of pics of the mud parking lot.

Todd,

Yup, that's my Sidewinder. After yesterday's ride, the sled has a whopping 653 actual miles on it. Picked it up about three years ago in SW Minnesota.

As far as the Ski-Doo auction, it brought in some nice $$:

Todd,

I really would like to make the Scorpion get together in Crosby. I've always wanted to go but unfortunately, I work a 24 next Saturday so I'm out.

Waconia was a good time. sorry I missed you Robb. I got to hang out and or chat with Jesse, Duane, Dave, Chuck (and Elvira), plus others. I had the Dator out a little on Saturday, 295/s needs some more tuning for drags. :boohoo: Now I have motivation to get some projects done for next yr. (hopefully  )

I just got home from Waconia. It was a great weekend! Beautiful day yesterday! I visited briefly with Jesse and 69Camaro. Saw the Dator, Jesse's 295/s, several Liqufires, a few Trailfires, Spitfires, 300, 400 and 500 and an original 300 in mint condition. I brought my 400. We knew the trail ride would be a short ride at about 5 MPH since there were 500 + sleds in it, so we made our own ride around the lake. The 400 ran great!

I was disappointed that there weren't more JD parts vendors. There was Jesse and one other person. I had a list of parts I was looking for but had trouble filling it. Also only a few JD sleds for sale.

Next year John Deere is the featured sled! Mark your calendar!

Oh yea, also visited with two gentleman from North Branch, MN. One riding a very nice Liquifire and the other on an original JDX8 that was in mint condition. Even the seat was still perfect! He bought it new and has taken exceptional care of it.

I have never been to a show, and still have to fix up my 2 sleds I have. But I have a feeling I will have to go next year. Sounds like allot of fun. Besides the one JDX8 you mentioned, not many JDX's there?
