You could use a match book but I think a screwdriver would be easier.

Thanks guys, I got my Johndeere started yesterday, It was a pain in my A*% getting the points set just
right. Now i have a carb problem, She is getting way to much gas, But this is a simple problem.

Now i'm at this problem. Now the motor floods out, with what smells like water... It does want to start,
and the water in the recoil side cylinder is rust colored. Now what is wrong with this thing?????

Why is it whenever someone drags home a sled that has not been run in years the first thing that want to do is get the engine started?

You have water in either your gas tank or your crankcase or both. Probably also dirt.

With water in the crank there is a good chance you have rusted springs on your center seals and it is not going to ever run right.

Sorry to sound so grim but .... been there, seen that.

Order a full gasket set with seals and fully take apart the motor, clean it check for ware and damage to cylinders, pistons, crank case, and clean the carb. you put back together and with the timing set right it run good for a long time. and make sure there is no water in the tank, and new fuel lines are cheap so it good to change out the 35 year old ones just to be reliable. :popcorn:
