Loosing power 76 Cyclone
Hi guys had the 76 out for its first real run, it is a 340, worked great pulled like bear, I was at the family farm going through lots of fresh snow and worked awesome till I slowed down then I seemed to loose a cylinder, started smoking excessively and had no power, I shut it down and opened hood just to give things a visual and everything seemed ok,I had a smoke then fired it back up, stared right away but still missing, I had to give it a little push to get it moving and would only slowly speed up then suddenly it caught and everything seemed great till I got back to the house and slowed down again then lost power. I checked things out closer and nothing seemed out wack, I didn't have a timing light but my suspicion is the cdi out of time, would start on first pull but only run on 1 cylinder, if you got the revs up number 2 would kick in, The sled has been entirely gone over. When it was mentioned in the faq to determine this it talks about marking a line on the sheave on tdc on 1, then rotating 180 degrees and mark another line, is this tdc for number 2?, connect timing light and if you have a plus sign the cdi is out of wack but would it do this intermittently. Re-read the FAQ section on Diagnosing a bad cdi system and check the ohms of the stator and follow the instuctions of marking the sheave.
