I too agree that if someone is selling something now days especially with the internet it's not to hard to get to this site or any vintage snowmobile site to determine what a curtain brand/model sled will bring.. On Robb's deal I would have told the guy send me my money back & then probably called him a lot of names not mentionable on this site, ( remember I flunked out of sensitivity training ).. I would then sit back to see if he really had offers as high as he stated?? to me a deal is a deal.. I always figure that my word should be good & that If I screw that up how will I ever be respected again????
I for one have found a 78 CC in Montrose MN for under $100.00 & offered the guy less & he took my offer.. Do I feel less for that? NO, do I feel I screwed the guy? No, He wanted it out of his front lawn as probably did his neighbors, it had sat in the same spot for over 2 years.. He was happy & so was I, It is human nature to try to purchase something for less than the asking price.. Do you guy's buy cars or trucks & not negotiate the price you & the dealership are both happy with, IF not then you should go with me when I purchase new, you'd laugh your butt off, & I've never been told by a dealership that I have purchased from not to come back. also I don't play the 2 dealership against each other game either, I go to a dealership that WANTS to sell..
As far as Eric deal goes, I'd be pissed also, I just can't see anyone calling someone up that he intends to purchase from & tell them there asking too little.. I'd have my doubts if the guy had any intention at all of going to get the sled. People like that have too much time on there hand & just like to screw with peoples minds..
You can't believe how many track kickers & picture collectors I've had while trying to sell a very rare Chaparral race sled..
Glad you go it Eric, can't wait to see pictures..
Kenny

Thanks Dustin. I am done buying sleds for a while and isn't that crazy. You are right, if I had bought that 78 Liquifire I would have had to have let this one go to Fond du Lac. :lol22: Given 24 hours I have cooled off quite a bit. I do believe the seller was happy and I am happy too. I guess I must face the fact that people including myself get caught up too much in emotions like the guy who spilled the beans. :lol22: It was a first for me because I would never call someone and do what this gentelman did. I can't wait to see everyone at Horicon, it should be a awesome time. My newly aquired 84 is nice but not perfect and I am looking forward to bringing it to Horicon. Does anyone know a good source for the hood foam? It is the flat instead of the egg crate but the same material I believe. :beers; Duane

I agree a deal is a deal. Every sled I buy that does not have a price I don't make an offer I ask the seller what they want for it. When they tell me I either take it or leave it. I purchased a mint 81 spitfire from a fellow and he wanted $100 for it, I paid him he was happy and I was happy. Some sell their sells very cheap but that is the price they were asking and when they get their asking price they are happy. I agree that once it is listed and a price has been posted that should be what it is. I bought a sled a couple of years ago for $50(his asking price) and when I went to pick it up a week later he mentioned that during the week he had discovered the sled was worth more. He laughed and said you are paying what I was asking and a deal is a deal and there was no hard feelings.

Duane - For what it is worth the guy who sold you the 84 got back to me this afternoon to tell me it was sold. :wall: Why he didn't get back to me on Monday I don't know. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better about your purchase. :clap: Looking forward to Horicon. :beers;

Feeling great Mitch. Looking forward to meeting you. I wonder why he didn't get back to you? You know, sometimes things are meant to be. I made offers on four different sleds at Waconia and none of them bit. If I would have purchased any of these sleds I would not have a 84 Liquifire in the garage now. I'm going to have to blame the pursuit of a 84 my on the JOES. :lol22: It wasn't too long ago that I couldn't have cared less about a 84. I do want to make it clear. I am happy with the deal. I did not buy it to turn a buck. Yes, I still think the person from Fond du Lac was wrong. It is nice but not mint. I did not expect the seller to give it away, but I do not believe the price on Craigs List was firm so I think it is quite natural for most to see if they can get it for a few bucks less no matter what the price is. I agree things are meant to be. I still need to tell the wife how an 83 sport found its way onto my trailer in Horicon :think:

Duane,

Congrats on the 84, and for what it's worth I heard the 80? liquifire you saw at Waconia blew up on the lake not long after it was purchased. I think you turned out far better off!!!

Thanks Ramon, really the more I think about it the more I can't believe I ended up with it. What luck that guy with the 80 turned down my offer. I really only wanted the temp and parts. Until the last couple of months I haven't seen anything to speak of in my area. Actually I was looking for a 82, 83, or especially a 84 at Waconia. After looking at your gorgeous 84 I was very much hoping to find one. Really, I can't believe the guy from Fond du Lac didn't didn't get some pictures and wire the guy some money ASAP. They announced this morning that basically all of the trails are closing tomorrow morning so I'm taking off in a few minutes to go riding for a few hours. Duane
