How Do You Care For Old Seats?
A few of my old John Deere's still have there original seats. How do you care for that old vinyl with out making it all slippery and greasy like armor all does. Would be nice to be able to soften then up some to. They are so stiff I am afraid they will crack if I ride them to much. Also wondering if it is possible to repair any cracks that are already there.

I have used ATF automatic transmission fluid for years. It is best to apply in the warm summer sun and let sit and soak in.

The absolute best is pure mink oil but this is impossible to get. Next up is needsfoot oil available from leatherworking supply places.

Come on guys get real here. If the seat is hard it going to stay that way. Mother nature has dried it out.

try the ATF before condemning it. It does work wonders. The key is to doing it in the hot summer sun and let it soak in. You may have to do it a couple of times depending on how hard the seat cover has gotten. Follow up with Turtle Wax's Formula 2000 or 2K.Danzig wrote:Come on guys get real here. You can believe me or not. I know it works and have saved a great many seats this way

The seat on my 300 was perfect and original then cracked at the corners in the cold last week.
