I picked up a couple more sleds this year. (Sprintfires)
One I'm using, the other I'm not going to start untill I can tear it all apart.
Q1 - Suspension springs are VERY rust coated. What's the best way to clean them up?
Is sandblasting okay? Also, what kind of paint for them afterward? Rustoleum?
I've done skis b4 (w/powder coat after), but I just don't want to mess up the springs.
Q2 - Are coolant hoses still available/type?/where?
Other than that I have most of the info & every manual possible.
I'm just looking for some experienced help.
I'm still looking for any gasket help.
Those darn odd Sprintfire gaskets
Using ebay, you never know what you're going to get. The Spit & Snowfire one's will not work!
Thanks

Suspension spring cleanup?
I sandblasted the springs and steel component in my suspension ?????.I?m sure someone can think of a reason not too ???.
But I sandblast return springs all the time that fit in stop valves and reheat valves in nuclear power plants ???.I?m sure there has been millions spent to analyze this practice so I?m good with it!!
I love powder coating certain things ??and did my springs .but touch up can be a problem on some exposed items.

Suspension spring cleanup?
lightly blasting springs is fine sand blasting them heavily can sometimes lose tension in springs. Blast them so that have heavy rust removed but are still mostly brown looking paint with rust paint enamel. powder coating is good for furnature not very good on stuff that moves as its brittle.

Suspension spring cleanup?
I've sandblasted and powdercoated my suspension springs with good luck. These are off my '82 Sprintfire, take it for what it's worth.
