Snow!

What do you guys think...

Is there going to be any snow for the HOF ride this year? Forecast looks a little iffy....

Can't speak for north central Wisconsin but in Hudson, WI we have absolutely nothing left except for a few snowbanks. I'm up here in northern, MN right now and just got off the sled and put on 60+ miles. The trails are still in very nice condition. Will be out again tomorrow.

Well-

There are alternatives....such as Standard, Illinois where the snow is right now to be a moderate dumping tomorrow night and then another dumping around Tuesday next week. I will keep the DNR on the run while I am on the Thundercat!!

Is this a good plan!!

The trails are being reported as open and in fair to poor condition.
It appears that the temps are trending down for the next week.

forecast 2-13-09

Those of us running the VC will be heading north into deeper snow pack conditions.
At this time, I am cautiously optimistic.

I was in houghton, michigan last weekend and on our trek home I noticed that as soon as we got out of the UP the snow diminished. The trails in rhinelander, Wi looked worse than ours did in central wisconsin, and that was before the two warm days this week. I had the 400 out today, mostly on ice though. We have 8-12 inches left by our woods but it always drifts up down there. Trails are closed around here and I dont see them reopening especially since the rivers are running.

Shawano Lake.
Trails are closed here too, but the lake is 7mi long & 3mi wide.
Plenty of room to ride out there!
We're about 1/2 way between Horicon & the HOF.
St. Germain has lots of lake room as well if you plan on going next weekend.

Two years ago the snow on the trails in St. Germain were shot, so we took a ride around lake Minoqua. There was very little snow on the ice, so it was a little hairy, especially with a cleated track.

On that tour we took around the lake 2 years ago, turns out we rode on about half the lake! Last year we came in from the other direction, and there was a whole lot more lake out there. :lol22:

Really though guys, the lakes were interconnected, and huge. We could have rode around a lot more, but we were busy BS'ing at the HOF in the AM. We made the best out of it we could, and had a fun time with it.
