1980 liquifire acting up

Howdy all, I have a 80 liquifire that is given me fits. When its cold it is hard to start well almost impossible so I gave it just a little shot of starting fluid it fired right up and ran good it got up to normal operating temp I shut it off and it fired right back up when I tried it. I let it run for a few more minutes shut it off went inside for a while went out and tried to start it wouldnt start it tried but no go so I gave it another shot of the dreded starting fluid fired right up and it ran fine.It raps up fine and seems to idle good.Another thing I noticed is when I went to put it up on jack stands so the track was off the ground it wanted to die.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
