Does anyone know if Deere put a grease zerk on the drive shaft bearing opposite the chain case side? I have (2) 1982 trailfires with them and I was told that they should not be there. The Technical manual makes no mention of this grease zerk and it seems like a good idea to grease it.
The grease zerk is located under the tunnel in the flange opposite the chain case side.

It is mentioned in your owners manual so I would believe they should be there. All of my Fire series sleds have them...

Grease Zerk on Drive Shaft Bearing?
Our joke around the Honda shop I work at is anything that is torn up (Tie-rod ends, ball joints, bearings, etc.) is that they "over greased it!" I never heard of a bearing failing from too much grease!!!!! I typically ad a zerk wherever possible. For example, after all the fun it is getting the pivot shafts out of the suspension, I drilled and tapped them to accept a fitting. Now I just grease them every season and forget about them. Smooth squeak free suspension!!!

Thanks for your help guys. I must of overlooked this in the manuals but I came across it when inspecting the drive lugs.
