78 liquifre project

I haven't seen this talked about yet. I'm thinking about putting a track off a 80's liquifire on a 78.Any ideas on what suspension would work,drive wheels?I'm not to worried about drilling new holes in tunnel,will the drive wheels off the 80 fit on the 78?
The reason i'm thinking about this is durabilty of the track.I'm want to make a ridder sled out of a tough 78 440. I't needs a lot of work,so just looking for some ideas

Thats what I was thinking.I want to make a 100 mile a day ridder out of this heap,so when its done I dont want to be losing cleat.A lot of these old cleated tracks are shot.I like the look 78, seems to have a little more room for a guy thats 6'3 also
I took a look at the track, seems someone has put a track of a scorpion on it

Rick,

There is a cat track that has 3.29 pitch and has very close to the same center to center distance on the rails as a 78 CC track. Also, it is a 121" track, so no modifying of the suspension/mounting is neccesary.

The Cat track would be the ones used on the later, I believe 1979,cross country cats, and were rubber. Steve

Guys,

Chuck Moser has the P/N, but I believe the track is from the 1980~ish Panthers and Pantera's. The 79 CC Cat track is not involute drive. Oddly, it's driven off the holes in the track while most other Cat's of that era were involute, driven off of molded lugs in the inside of the track.

Joe, isn't that track for a CC Liquifire with a CC suspension and 3.29 pitch instead of a regular 78 Liquifire?

Duane,

The track fits the regular Deere suspensions, but does have a 3.29 pitch. I need to see if they offer that track with a 2.52" pitch, as I have hex shaft sprockets to make it work, from the 78 440 Liquifire with a hex shaft.

It's a 121" long track, about 16" inches wide. So you need to watch that it's centered in the tunnel. Chuck know more, as he was the one that found that track, and installed one on his 78 CC.
