Runs good for a bit and then tries to die out. Fouls a plug occasionally but you can work the throttle when it is about to die and it will stay running and keep going but if you let it die it starts hard, like it is flooding out. Everything on the tilly seems right and it's sucking fuel good. First start when it's cold it fires up like a champ but like I said if you let it die it starts hard. :wall:

Let me know what you think,

This is a buddies sled and he cleaned the carb. I'll take it apart when I get a chance and clean it up again. Compression is good, tank is decent. Thought it was wierd that the tank was welded to the tunnel. Maybe I'm just too new to the game.

Any idea where a guy can find a tillotson rebuild kit?? That in itself would probably due wonders.

Also looking for a pair of ski's for a 1970 Scorpion 295 and some other odds and ends. Anybody happen if there is a scorpion graveyard around.

The tank is not welded to the tunnel, it is the tunnel. Rather it is the bulkhead. The practice of incorporating the fuel tank into the frame was not only done by TAS but many other brands also. I imagine it was a cost savings design but a real headache if you ever hit something and poke a hole in the bellypan which is actually the fuel tank.

Tilly kits are easy to get from MFGsupply or your favorite aftermarket company. Much like the Walbros Deere used they are an intricate maze of tiny passages that can plug up.

A good source of parts is Dennis Kutz at ScropsRus. www.scropsrus.com You working on a Mark II or III?

On Tilly carbs it's best to get a carb pump to ck that the needle & seat are working properly, I'll try to get a eBay number to show you what they look like..

I couldn't find any on ebay but I have one at home when I get back to the world I'll get a picture of it & the MFG maybe it's on ebay that way.. what it does is breaks open the needle & seat at the precis pressure then lets you know when the needle seats again & if it holds so it doesn't leak..
