99 A/C Sno-Pro 440

Post by Spitfire79 »

Hey Guys
I just picked up a 99 AC Sno-Pro. I've never owned a "newer" machine like, especially hi-perf. Anything special I need to know about it? Premium or ?? fuel?
Thanks

Thanks, I kinda think its cool. First new style sled I've had. Heckuva lot easier on the body with all that suspension.
Not sure on the track Kenny, I'll measure when I get home.

Track measures 15".Never heardof a13"track. Runs well, but I guess I get to tearit down along with my Liquifire thissummer.Compression isa little low. 90 on left, 110 on right. I think it should beat least 120+ on each.
My oldest now has the idea that heshould get into grass drags

I owned one of Joes' 99 SnoPro's, and worked on the other one he had. Do you have a fan cooled or liquid>? They are a great trail sled when you set the suspension up for your body weight. (like any other sled I guess) The 55HP 99 fan put out just enough power, but the 02 version was nicer with 66HP. The 99 will be good for about 72mph depending on clutching. The new firecat chassis snopro's were the first to have the 13.5 x 128" track. That was in the 02 model year, the following season the production firecats were introduced. The fan cooled model snopro's were still in the old ZR chassis.
Arcticchat.com is an invaluable resource. I also recommend it.

I've got the liquid version. Its a ZR. I believe the fans were ZL's. Its a fun sled. Light enough to throw around, with plenty of power. I'm going to pull the cylinders and put new pistons / rings. Its down on compression a bit. Even with only 90 psi this thing still rocks. Lifts the ski's and pulls hard. So far it tops out around 85, but with a rebuild it will make the power it should, and a little clutching, it should be a great little holy s**t sled for playing with. My youngest son loves it, but still won't part with his Spitfire.
