Yamaha 440 Exciter

Post by River Rat »

Was wondering if anyone could give me the main jet size for a 1980 440 Yamaha exciter..It has a 147.5 in it now(single carb)..That seems to be a little small since the phazer uses a 145 for each carb(dual carb).. She's ready to fire.!!! Fixed this one up for a guy here locally for the vintage runs... He's in his 70's and this was his first sled..He found it and had me work it over..Not show quality, but looks pretty good.. Frankie

The 76-77 main is only 150or155. but that is a diffrent carb that might be right.

Thanks 8HO.. I guess that is what's supposed to be in there...
 Spitfire79.. Here's a couple pics..Not for show, but will make a rider for him.. Better than when I got it.. Bumper caved back to the broken hood, vents missing,no seat, blowed motor..etc... Found everything used around here to put it back together..Rebuilt motor with new seals, weiscos,etc.. Still waiting on new seat cover and ski's... Frankie

Looks good to me Frankie, but as long as he's happy nothing else matters..

Anybody know where I can get Yamaha spindle boots ( I don't remember what years used them but they allowed for a wider ski stance ) & aircraft type toggle switches (the ones with the orange rubber around the toggle)

Ken..If your talking about the spindle covers for the srx's,gpx's etc .,there is a guy repopping these in both rubber and fiberglass...715-854-2463..His name is Leo Koch..The aircraft toggles are available thru your local race car supplyer,,,or you can use toggles from the marine boat shops..That is what we used to run in the dirt modifieds..They can take the jarring and abuse. Frankie Kenny... I have a nos studding kit still in the bags for the 80-84 liquifires if your interested to help get my debt down... :lol22:

Frankie, what kind of studs are they? can you send me a picture of one?? So I can see what they look like?? or a link to a website that has what they look like??
Also you wouldn't have a used Yammerhammer spindle boot that I could look at to see if it's going to work on my 440/S project??
