Just got back home with an 1979 El Tigre Cross Country Cat. It was in a a shed less than 25 miles from me.
Rough but do-able. 2300 miles. K-H juice brakes, liquid cooled Sprint engine tunnel exchanges and radiator. Missing the teather and a few little things.
Needs complete teardown of course. Good spring project.

Nice. A track should be no problem to find. I'm starting to really like those Cats. I didn't do much to the '80 el Tigre 6000 I found earlier this year but have been tinkering with it as of late and doing some testing. I really like this sled. It just has a nice feel to it. I can see why they were popular.

Todd, keep that rope (in the picture) handy. You'll have something to tow the Cat back home with when it lets you down..................LOL DA

PS: Ever notice how the hood hold down kinda looks like it spells "JD" ???

Don I actually had backed my truck up to the shed to pull the sled out and was hooking up the rope when the guy says why don't you just drive it out?

What? It runs? Sure enough he starts it up and drives it out. Made me feel a whole lot better about the deal.

Those hood strap hooks were used by Cat for many years and are still available.
