Wouldn't it be easier using one from a 340/22??

Yeah, what Kenny said!

You need everything, including the flywheel.

Yes it would be easier to use one from a /22 but I was thinking that parts like the timing ring are getting hard to find and we all know they are getting pretty old and are starting to become unreliable.
All I was thinking is maybe we could get some of these old sleds going again with some "newer" tech parts that are available and more reliable and the fact that I personally hate points on a sled engine so I was trying to eliminate them.
Anyways it was just a thought.
Thanks
Dan

I believe that if you stay Kioritz you'll have a better chance that the tapper length on the crank will be correct for the flywheel? Where as using anybody else's might not be. The other point that has NEVER been addressed when ever this came up when the discussion was brought up about going the other way ( CDI to Points ) was is the flywheel key in the same position on both engine cranks??? If not, this would get real extensive fast.. I am going to install CDI on a Kioritz 340 RS Free Air Engine I have, but If I find a crank that will work I will also be installing it at the same time, I will know more when I start this project..

I am interested in this post myself. Been wondering if I could build a 340/5 with CDI and Duel carbs as a temporary motor for my 295/S.
Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
