My Boneyard

Post by Liquifire 4/6 »

I wanted to have a peek at what I had left for JD sleds in my backyard today because I have plans on doing up some sort of custom JD sled someday. There was still too much snow back there to get a good look. But if anyone wants to see some of my junk, here it is

Pete ... Did I see a Sno-Scout sitting there?

Looks deep enough that I wonder if you drove over anything on the tour.

Hiya Todd.....Not sure if I know what a Sno-Scout is? I did have a Robin-Nodwell Sno Scoot, but I think I sold that a year or so ago. It's getting too dark now to take another look but I'll check tomorrow to see if it still might be there. And yes, there's still a fair bit of snow there and I did feel one small bump in the trail which I am fairly certain was a Blizzard 7500 chassis.

Yeah Jim, I really don't know how I ended up with all this stuff. Honestly, some of it just seems to appear out of nowhere. I come home at night sometimes to find old sleds parked in my yard...no note attached. I guess people round here have me pegged as "the keeper". I sometimes wonder what I'll ever do with this stuff if I ever move. I've got an old 28' x 40' warehouse stacked full of old sled engines, carbs, clutches and all sorts of other old sled parts. I'll try and get a video of that posted someday.

Thanks Scott. I rather enjoy riding that Super Brute. Not terribly fast, but quick enough for a 295 and a really smooth running machine. I was really fortunate to find lots of NOS stuff for it when I rebuilt it. The crankshaft, cylinders, pistons, rings, heads, & track are all brand spankin new.

I have rode a Super Brute a few times and it was a blast. Unless I leaned forward there was no way to keep the skies on the ground. My friends may not be as nice as yours but it's close. Still looking for a tank if you find one in your warehouse. Had a good look a my friends and it is completely rotted, which is odd considering the shape of the sled.

P.S did you get en email about a 82 snowfire hood?

Sorry Scott....I checked my warehouse, but no Super Brute tanks in there. But I did discover an E/S kit for my Massey 300S in there. Gotta install that this summer. And yes, I did get a call about a Snowfire hood from your neck of the woods. I still gotta shoot the guy some pics.

Todd, I had a better look today and there are no Sno-Scouts or Sno-Scoots back there.

The oldest machine in my collection is a 67 Robin-Nodwell. I found it sitting in a collapsed barn about 20 miles from me four years back. I bought it and 4 other machines for $40.
It will be a project someday.

How rare are these things Pete? I read somewhere that total production for all models in both years was only 250 units.

I'm not really sure, Todd. They must be fairly few and far between because I've only seen one of them. I probably shouldn't have sold it as cheap as I did ($100.00), but it had to be the ugliest thing I had ever seen.
