For Dad
I know it is not a deere, but I just had to buy it...
I took a quick tour of western MN on Friday with the family. Dropped a few seats off Sanborn for John and then on to Windom and Jackson. I was on a mission to pick up my Dad's birthday gift which had been brought from Parker, SD to Jackson by Dustin (aka JDXspec) a few weeks earlier. I had stumbled upon a '72 Olympique 399 that looked too clean to pass on. My dad and I were at Waconia this year watching all the Doo's tear around and he told me about his first sled - a '72 one lung Olympique 300. I figured he'd be ok with the double lung bigger brother, the 399. I don't know much about these, but as far as I can tell the only thing missing on it is the chrome rim around the windshield. Everything else is clean as can be. No cracks anywhere and hardly a boot scuff on it. The pic is what it looked like when I picked it up.
Special thanks to Dustin for your help - my Dad was very surprised Saturday morning when I gave it to him. Pretty sweet weekend and it wouldn't have been possible without your help. THANK YOU!

Nice condition. We also had a 72 300. Dad bought it for Mom, but I got the most fun out of it. My uncle had a 399 and I always found it a pain to start compared to the 300. Didn't matter the weather or temp, that 300 would always go

Very Nice sled. I found one a few years ago that is just as nice. A 72 399 with elec start, speedo and slide susp. Yours looks clean with no cracks in the hood which is good and the louvered plastic looks good too! I don't think that the windshields are supposed to have trim on them.

Yes they did, and it was chrome. We had a single 71' 335-----and pretty much demolished it!! Funny thing was, it still had the original windshield on it when I gave it away for parts! Tough old sleds.

According to the previous owner he could never get the carb dialed in right and had trouble starting it. Maybe this was consistent with all the 399's?Spitfire79 wrote:Nice condition. As for the trim - there are slight scratches around the edge indicating this one had it at one time. According to Dad his 300 did have the chrome trim, but it was the first piece to disappear as all it took was one low twig to knock it loose.

Sorry I missed this topic till today. Glad to help. since I knew right where the sled was Because it was the same guy who I got my 78 CC from. Even the pictures don't do justice to how nice that sled is. Glad to hear it was recieved very well ( to the man that had ALMOST everything? ) Glad your family (and the Doo) made it safely.
