Deere Sleds Calenders

Post by wycrumb »

(The Title was changes from "Deere Sled Office Supplies" on 10/2/09)

I recently had an idea after getting some mail from "JD600". He had a letter written on a piece of paper, not just any paper but one side was white and the other had a picture of a JD Tractor on it. It got me to thinking, why not a tablet of JD sleds? Maybe someone on this site knows someone that could / would want to do some professional printing (Like the Rainville Stickers). We could round up some of the best pictures (at least one pic. or each different JD sled made) and have them printed on stationary. I know I would buy it!
What do you guys think?

I probably wouldn't be interested in stationery but the calendars sound good. The pictures would have to be only 00's and JDX's however (kidding!)

Last year my wife made me a calendar. She hung up a John Deere bed sheet over the inside of the garage door and used the JDX8 and the 500 for props. I have several John Deere snowsuits so she had the kids, my mom, my inlaws, Buddy the dog, some friends, and of course herself pose in the suits on the sleds. It turned out great! She gave it to me for a birthday present. When I first saw it I thought it looked like a sales brochure. She had different photos taken for each month and then took them to Wal-Mart and they made them into the calendar. She said it was fairly cheap to do. It sure put a smile on my face!

I catch a lot of grief over my sled addiction, so for the wife to go to this much trouble made me feel pretty good! :lol22:

Sounds like calendars are a go!
I would like one too, does anyone have any high quality photos of a nice sled?
It sure would be cool to get as many different deere models (sleds  ) on the calendar as possible!

Here is what i have been thinking. The calanders have 13 pics, that would be one for every year from '72 to '84. i for sure want to include a Dator, a CC and the factory Team 295/s. If anyone has any nice pics, you can e-mail them to me at highland_view_farm@yahoo.com. If I decide to use your pic, i'll send you a calendar free of charge. When we get closer to that time, i will post in the classifieds so all interested can send me their addresses.

Thanks everyone.

I looked at the calender idea, but as mentioned, you need a bunch of high-quality pictures. Good news is, you have plenty of time to get them before next year.

Why a 1975 800 instead of a 340/S??? Just curious. DA

Either one would be fine. I forgot that the 340/s was also a one year production sled.

I agree with DA. Why omit the 340/S,the sled that almost won the '75 I-500? It truly made the statement to the rest of the race community that Deere was for real and definately a contender.

Everyone has their favorites. In order to cover all the models you may have to have more than just one sled per month. I'm sure their are some guys out there who have every sled of a certain year or series. A group shot of a line up might help get everything incorporated into the calendar you want. Or perhaps one month shares two featured sleds. Personally I like seeing the vintage clothing and helmets too. The later fire series had some very eye catching apparell to go along with the sleds. It might be nice to see some Deere suits and helmets worn in a few photos? Just a thought. Just trying to offer a few suggestions and be helpful.
