Mikuni jetting on a 300

Post by EricR »

Well my freind who loves a challenge gave up on the Walbo of my 300. It fought us tooth and nail, would scream at top end almost 60mph at Waconia, idled fine, but trying to run 15mph was a choke nursing operation at best.

Tried a kit, two or three cleanings, a second carb, still quirky.

Finally he grabbed an old box of parts from a 500 Indy twin, grabbed one of the 38 miks, and put it on. Starts right up and ildes fine. Unless he finds a grass drag, it won't be tested until winter next.

Any one have a ballpark clue on the jetting?

A 38 might be a little big for the 300. We put a 34mm off an early LF on my friends 300. Used stock jetting for the carb and found it to be satisfactory and as far as I know he never changed it.
