Super Brute Tank

Post by S_Kyle »

I was just looking on at a tank on a 295 Alouette Super Brute and noticed that the top of the tank was stamped
Made In Canada
Alouette PN 200410

But all the letters were Backwards.

adanaC nI edaM
012400 NP etteuolA

Were all the tanks stamped like this or is this one different.

P.S If anyone has a good tank let me know as this one rotted through last winter and will not hold fuel. :wall:

Thanks
Scott

:lol22: , . You found me out.

But seriously I was staring at the writing for a few minutes until I realized that it was stamped backwards. I wish I had a digital camera to post a pic. So I am guessing that there is something weird with this tank.

P.S still need one.

this is how I used to repair plastic fuel tanks, Make sure there is no gas fumes in the tank, then I used to take a steel rod grind it sort of pointed & heat it red hot the make a groove in the tank following the crack ( make sure you make it deep but not so deep that you go through the thickness of the tank, about 1/2 the thickness of the tank, then I would take one of those old clear plastic pound coffee can covers & use the torch to melt it & let the melted plastic drip into the crevice that you made in the tank with the hot rod. let the melted drops of plastic over fill the crevice some, then once everything gets a little hard I would heat the rod up again & then drag it over the excess & form a smooth patch. I never had one leak after using this method..

Anyone have thoughts on the printing on the tank.

When I was restoring my Super Brute, I noticed the printing was backwards on mine too. Guess it must be so that people inside the tank can read it properly. That tank definately looks fixable, so don't discard it.

There is a place in Brandon that is supposed to be able to line the inside of the tank with a plastic of some sort. We pulled another 340 Super Brute home a few weeks ago and found the same problem with the tank.
