Chappy ID

Post by JDXspec »

Got a Lead on 2 shoe shoe? snowmobiles and then a Chapparal too the guy says its a 635 liquid. Now I did a quick search and don't see a chappy equipped like that. so what do you think it could be? is there such a big liquid for the chappys? I'd say a 634 hirth fanner myself. Have not seen them yet. Anyway I do plan on at LEAST looking at the sleds and probably buying them.

Chap only made a 648 CC liquid for there SSX racer back in "73" & "74" it would be a 3 cyl... If in fact this is the engine I would be very interested in it.. They did use the 650 Hirth free air & a 650 Kohler free air in there "71" racer called a Thunderbird
They did just like you found out have a 634 Hirth fan in "71,& 72" in there consumer sleds & also in "72" they had a 650 Hirth axial fan in there SS model, in "73 & 74" in there consumer sleds they only had a Max 440 cc axial fan or liquid engine available.
Let me know what you find out.

well thats interesting. He thought it was a 3 cyl. It will probably be mid sept before I could either go look at or buy these sleds. But these sleds were more or less headed to the scrap otherwise and one of his buddies knew I was into sleds so he called me to see if i'm interested. I always look you never know what you find.

this wouldn't be by chance an ifs sled?

Nothing yet. I don't want to bug the guy too much I doin't think he knows the value of the chappy. But i don't think word will get out. I helps a friend of friend told him about me and he called me wanting to move these sleds. Heck I waited 1 1/2 yrs to get my 3rd dator home and the guy knew what it was . When i know something I will let you know, but I bet it will be mid Sept when I lay eyes on these things, and when I do I will be in a hurry to get them home.
