Kohler 340 plugs and boots

Post by 79 Spitfire »

Anyone know what plug boots aka resistor covers from NGK will work and spark plugs for a 79 spitfire?

I would suggest going away from the resister plug caps. I change all mine to the same ones that the older Briggs motors used & the coil spring that snaps on the plug that comes with them (the caps) you can purchase these from any NAPA store
Just my $.07350 worth

The plastic NGK cover are resistor type covers they can & do go bad, the older rubber / steel coil type don't go bad.
I don like resistor plug for the same reason ie BR9ES in a NGK not sure what the new replacement number for this would be.
Anyway I run B9ES or B10ES (The B10ES being a colder plug)
The resistor caps & plugs are suppose to suppress electric/ignition noise in your neighbors TV when you drive bye.

I run a pair of NGK LBO5FP (STOCK #8030) resistor plug caps and NGK BR9ES plugs on my 78 Spitty.

These caps require removing the aluminum "cap" of the top of the spark plug and grip the small threaded stem on the plug really well.

Never had a problem with them on my 340 F/A, but I installed a pair on my 800 Ski-Doo REV and they arced thru the stem on the plug in only one ride...
