OK, I am looking at a John Deere snowmobile. I can possibly buy it CHEAP. It runs good and I would like to make it look as good as it runs and use it. The thing is I am a first time 'possible' owner of a snowmobile. I am fairly good at working on other things like mowers, golf carts, weedys etc. Is this sled worth the time and effort. I am posting the # for any info about it I can get.

I thank you for help in advance

Looks like you found a 1983 440 Liquifire. If you click on specification's, then serial no.'s on the home page you should be able to find it. Mailman

a 83 liquidfire is deffently worth the time and effort but dont forget this sled is over 20 years old so it has some history u should check the whole sled before u buy it

Can I post some pictures and help get a better idea of the kind of project I am getting into. Are parts available? I have been looking around for parts on ebay and they do seem readily available.

It could be a sprintfire too could it not? I don't remember a 80+ 340 LF. An 83 LF would be J44LM. Sprints are fun too. Pics would help alot.

The number on my 1983 liquifire is J44LM222900M (6/82) So i'am thinking it's not a 83 liquifire but it's a john deere and thats all that matters . The best sled ever. Hope you get it and have fun with it. I know you will. Even when its not working so good. I have just as much fun working on the old sleds as i do driving them. And you will get lots of help here on this site to help you along your way. ---------Good luck--------Dan

that is a sprintfire, i was copying numbers on tunnels when i went to the junkyar, j34xm was snowfire and j34lm was sprintfire and they all had a lot of 2s in the serial number. i'd say go for it as sprints aren't very common and it would be real fun riding, expecially if it is cheap. good luck
